French Teacher – Private Schools (NY)

About the role

Carney, Sandoe & Associates is recruiting French Teachers for the 2026‑2027 academic year at private and independent schools in New York, NY. The successful candidate will join a vibrant language department, delivering comprehensive French instruction to students of varying ages and proficiency levels.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging lesson plans covering listening, speaking, reading and writing.
• Integrate French culture, including festivals, cuisine and social customs, into classroom activities.
• Facilitate conversational practice and pronunciation drills.
• Organise events that allow students to showcase their language skills.
• Communicate regularly with parents about progress and behaviour.
• Participate in professional development and school community initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in French, Linguistics, Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 2‑3 years of proven French teaching experience.
• Fluent written and spoken French.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Reliability, organisational skills and willingness to support extracurricular activities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in French language instruction.
• Knowledge of ACTFL standards (preferred).
