About the role
We are seeking a Forest Assistant to support the University Forest operations at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. This temporary, fixed‑term position works on‑site and offers hands‑on experience in timber management and land maintenance.
Key responsibilities
- Mark and cruise timber stands to assist forest inventory.
- Operate tractors and other state‑owned vehicles for field tasks.
- Apply herbicides according to safety and environmental guidelines.
- Mark boundary lines and maintain forest roadways.
- Perform routine mechanical repairs on equipment.
Required profile
- Ability to operate a state‑owned vehicle safely.
- Prior experience operating a tractor or similar heavy equipment.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of forest or agricultural practices.
