Forensic Psychologist – Community Forensic Services

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities seeks an Outpatient Forensic Psychologist to support forensic evaluation teams across the state. This hybrid position involves travel to various locations and tele‑working from assigned areas.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct face‑to‑face forensic mental health evaluations for competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and violence risk.
• Prepare detailed reports and provide expert testimony in criminal matters.
• Assist inpatient forensic hospitals and outpatient teams with evaluation processes.
• Collect and analyze data, supervise trainees, and perform related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA‑accredited program.
• Current Georgia license to practice psychology (temporary, provisional, or permanent).
• At least one year of experience at the Psychologist 1 level (HCP140) or equivalent.

Required skills

• Knowledge of abnormal and developmental psychology, forensic statutes, and case law.
• Proficiency with malingering assessment tools, intellectual testing, and personality assessment.
• Experience with violence risk assessment instruments such as HCR‑20 and PCL‑R.
• Ability to provide expert testimony and prepare forensic reports.
