Flight Control Operator

About the role

WindBorne Systems operates the world’s largest fleet of autonomous weather balloons. As a Flight Control Operator you will remotely navigate these balloons by adjusting altitude to exploit wind patterns, enabling precise positioning anywhere on the planet.

Key responsibilities

• Develop expertise in balloon flight dynamics and become the primary operator for daily missions.
• Analyze meteorological forecasts and real‑time data to choose optimal flight paths.
• Adapt procedures as hardware, software, and atmospheric conditions evolve.
• Make rapid judgment calls on weather avoidance, forecast uncertainty, and hardware limits.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to refine control techniques and improve system reliability.

Required profile

• Self‑directed learner comfortable with evolving procedures.
• Ability to prioritize and make decisions under pressure and uncertainty.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work long or unusual hours, especially on weekends.
• Reliable high‑speed internet connection.
