Fixed Assets Accountant

About the role

The Fixed Assets Accountant supports the Senior Accountant – FA Supervisor in maintaining the integrity of the fixed‑asset sub‑ledger, preparing analytical work papers, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate proactively with internal and external business partners.
• Collaborate with IT to accurately capitalize project expenditures upon completion.
• Reconcile and analyze capital projects, researching discrepancies.
• Prepare analytical work papers such as corporate tax schedules, audit schedules, monthly variance schedules, and roll‑forwards.
• Identify process improvements and controls that increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Answer financial questions for assigned districts and perform asset‑base analysis.
• Review coding of capital‑expenditure invoices and assist during high‑volume periods.
• Reconcile assigned balance‑sheet accounts and analyze asset level changes.
• Post monthly journal entries, including accruals, re‑classifications, and adjustments.
• Research and resolve Fixed Asset clearing account balances.
• Participate in special projects, including testing Oracle Projects and Oracle Fixed Asset modules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Master of Accountancy preferred).
• 0–2 years of accounting experience with exposure to U.S. GAAP and SOX.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Experience with Oracle Financials or other large ERP systems desired.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Hands‑on experience with Oracle Financials, including Oracle Projects and Oracle Fixed Asset modules.
