Fire Life Safety Director - Medical Facility

About the role

Allied Universal is hiring a Fire Life Safety Director for a medical facility in Downtown Brooklyn. The director protects life and property by implementing the building's fire safety plan, managing the Fire Command Station and supervising the fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy floor wardens and building evacuation supervisors. The role acts as a liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies. Workdays are available Monday to Sunday, with morning and afternoon shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional
• Maintain fire safety teams on every floor (Fire Wardens, Deputy Fire Wardens, Building Evacuation Team)
• Conduct fire alarm drills and keep a written log of critiques to identify weaknesses
• Act as liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies
• Guide visitors, guests, vendors and employees professionally, especially during emergencies
• Help security staff visually inspect visitor, vendor and employee badges to prevent unauthorized access
• Monitor and report suspicious persons and packages
• Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid if required

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least 18 years old
• F85 or F89 Certificate of Fitness
• Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, able to handle the public and all levels of personnel
• Ability to write clear reports and logs, read operating procedures and speak and understand English
• Background investigation and pre-employment drug/alcohol test; active license maintained at all times
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods, climb stairs and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds

Required skills

• Intermediate computer skills, including use of wireless technology at client sites
• Ability to handle common and crisis situations calmly and efficiently

What we offer

• Pay of $27 per hour, paid weekly
