Fire Life Safety Director - Corporate Tower

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a Fire Life Safety Director for a corporate tower in New York. The director protects life and property by implementing the building's fire safety plan, managing the Fire Command Station and supervising the fire brigade, floor wardens, deputy floor wardens and building evacuation supervisors. The role acts as a liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies. Pay is $30 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Keep all life safety systems and related equipment fully functional
• Maintain fire safety teams on every floor (Fire Wardens, Deputy Fire Wardens, Building Evacuation Team)
• Run fire alarm drills and keep a written log of critiques to spot weaknesses in response time or equipment
• Guide visitors, guests, vendors and employees professionally, especially during emergencies
• Help security staff visually inspect visitor, vendor and employee badges to prevent unauthorized access
• Monitor and report suspicious persons and packages
• Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid when required
• Act as liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least 21 years old
• Valid F89 Fire Life Safety Director license, licensed by the New York State Department of State
• Background investigation and pre-employment drug/alcohol test required; license must be kept current and carried on duty
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
• Ability to stand or walk for a full shift, climb stairs and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
• Flexible schedule, including Sunday to Saturday availability and morning, afternoon, evening and overnight shifts
