Financial Reporting Accountant

About the role

The Department of the Controller's Office at Southeastern Louisiana University seeks a Financial Reporting Accountant. The role focuses on core financial accounting duties such as bank reconciliations, asset management, sales tax preparation, and journal entries, while also supporting the preparation of annual financial and athletic reports and other ad‑hoc reports required by the system office and OSRAP.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations, manage assets, and prepare and reconcile sales tax filings.
• Record journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger activity.
• Assist in the compilation of the university’s annual financial report and annual athletic reports.
• Produce additional financial reports as requested, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of accounting or auditing experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or a related bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of experience).
• Master's degree is preferred.

Required skills

• Ability to define problems, gather data, and draw valid conclusions.
• Familiarity with office equipment including typewriters, calculators, and personal computers.
• Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
