Financial Examiner – Non-Depository Financial Institutions

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Banking and Finance is seeking a Financial Examiner to evaluate non‑depository financial institutions such as mortgage brokers, lenders and servicers. The role involves verifying financial statements, assessing compliance with state and federal regulations, and preparing examination reports.

Key responsibilities

• Perform financial statement analysis, earnings, capital, liquidity, and asset/liability management for mortgage brokers, lenders, and servicers.
• Review Mortgage Call Reports, internal controls, audit records, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Prepare Tier 1 Examination Letters and credit analysis reports within departmental timeframes.
• Serve as liaison with examined institutions, communicating findings and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Successful completion of a background check, including criminal, credit, and professional license verification.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license and legal authorization to work in the United States.

Required skills

• Financial statement analysis.
• Credit analysis.
• Knowledge of mortgage examination standards and the Multistate Mortgage Committee (MMC) rating system.
• Understanding of anti‑money‑laundering and information security regulations.
