Financial Aid Counselor

About the role

The Office of Financial Aid at Southeastern Louisiana University is seeking a Financial Aid Counselor to join its team. In this role you will guide students and their families through the complexities of financial aid, ensuring they understand and access available resources.

Key responsibilities

• Provide counseling and advice to students and parents on federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.
• Assist with the administration and processing of one or more financial aid programs.
• Evaluate financial aid applications to determine eligibility for various awards.
• Collect, maintain, and report accurate data and records related to financial aid.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university by the hire date.
• Experience in financial aid administration or a closely related field.
• Experience working in a highly automated financial aid office comparable in size and complexity to Southeastern Louisiana University.
• Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and public‑relation abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with automated data‑management systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and other data‑management software tools.
