About the role
The Financial Accountant II supports the Accounting Office at Texas A&M University‑Texarkana by maintaining accurate financial records, managing inventory and property, and preparing grant and financial reports. This full‑time position ensures compliance with state inventory policies and university accounting standards.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile inventory of capital assets, assign inventory numbers and property labels, and manage surplus equipment storage.
- Coordinate property transfers across university departments, state agencies, and external partners.
- Process accounting entries in FAMIS, USAS, and other systems, including journal entries, voucher corrections, cash receipts, and grant draws.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including endowment entries and annual inventory reconciliation.
- Act as State Agency Property Manager and liaison with the State Comptroller’s Office, Texas Building and Procurement Commission, and State Auditor’s Office.
- Record construction‑in‑progress projects and reclassify project dollars to appropriate class codes.
Required profile
- Ability to make independent accounting decisions based on generally accepted accounting principles.
