Finance and Budget Officer

About the role

The Finance and Budget Officer will work within the Reimbursement Claims Management and Performance Section of the Uniformed Capabilities Support Division, supporting the United Nations' peacekeeping reimbursement processes. Based in New York, the incumbent will analyze and certify financial claims related to contingent owned equipment, death and disability awards, and third‑party reimbursements.

Key responsibilities

• Review, analyze, certify and process claims for Contingent Owned Equipment (COE) death and disability awards and third‑party reimbursements.
• Verify supporting documentation for accuracy and reasonableness, and prepare draft certifications for final settlement.
• Provide substantive advice and guidance to Permanent Missions of troop‑contributing and police‑contributing countries on reimbursement frameworks and compensation matters.
• Deliver briefings on COE policies, report reimbursement status, and participate in pre‑deployment visits and negotiations.
• Coordinate preparation and finalization of cost estimates for budgeting and planning purposes.
• Prepare regular and ad‑hoc management reports and maintain the claims database.
• Brief senior management on reimbursement status for contributing countries.
