Fertilizer Technician – Full‑Time, Year‑Round

About the role

DeHamer Landscaping is seeking a motivated Fertilizer Technician to join its lawn‑care team. You will work independently on assigned routes, applying fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and other turf‑health treatments to residential and commercial properties while upholding safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and turf‑care treatments according to label rates, schedules and best practices.
• Calculate proper application rates, mix chemicals accurately and operate equipment such as Z‑sprayers, push sprayers and aerators.
• Monitor turf health, identify weeds, insects, diseases or nutrient deficiencies, and adjust treatments as needed.
• Maintain daily service logs, submit reports and communicate findings to supervisors and clients.
• Follow OSHA, MIOSHA and Michigan Department of Agriculture safety protocols, use PPE and manage chemical storage and disposal.
• Load, transport and maintain equipment and vehicle cleanliness.

Required profile

• Valid Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (Core, 3A, 3B, Category 6, 7F, 7A).
• Experience calculating application rates and operating fertilizer/spray equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record (chauffeur’s license preferred).
• Strong attention to detail, safety‑focused and able to work independently.
