FERC Associate (Mid‑Senior) – DC, SF, Seattle or Portland

About the role

The firm is seeking a mid‑to‑senior level associate to join its nationally recognized FERC regulatory practice. The associate will work primarily on Federal Energy Regulatory Commission matters for electric and natural‑gas utilities, developers and data‑center clients across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on issues under the Federal Power Act and Natural Gas Act.
• Represent utilities, developers and market participants before FERC in regulatory proceedings.
• Handle electric transmission rates, incentives, interconnection and large‑load matters, including data‑center projects.
• Work on wholesale energy markets and natural‑gas pipeline certification, rates and compliance.
• Support regulatory aspects of energy‑infrastructure transactions, conduct legal research and draft filings.
• Collaborate with other practice groups on infrastructure, regulatory and energy‑transition matters.

Required profile

• JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in the relevant U.S. jurisdiction.
• 3‑6 years of experience with FERC regulatory matters, preferably in a large law firm or government agency.
• Strong legal research, writing and analytical abilities.
• Experience with electric and/or natural‑gas regulatory work and familiarity with interconnection or energy‑infrastructure development.
• Interest in the intersection of regulation, infrastructure investment and emerging energy demands such as data centers.
