About the role
The Feed & Fertilizer Inspector works under supervision to ensure compliance with Texas Agriculture Code and related regulations. Based in College Station, the role involves regular travel to manufacturers, distributors, and end‑users to inspect and sample feed and fertilizer products.
Key responsibilities
- Travel to and inspect feed and fertilizer facilities, manufacturers, distributors, and consumers.
- Examine product labeling, documentation, and collect samples for analysis.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports, investigation summaries, and presentations.
- Conduct investigations related to animal illness, crop loss, adulterated or misbranded products.
- Assist with compliance, enforcement, emergency response, and regulatory outreach activities.
- Operate state‑owned vehicle and equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Testify in administrative hearings and court cases as required.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an agriculture‑related field or agribusiness.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to pass an FDA background check and obtain required commissioning.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 100 lb.
- Willingness to work beyond normal hours, including holidays and weekends, and respond to emergencies.
