Facility Assessor

About the role

The Facility Assessor leads building assessment projects across the United States, conducting on‑site evaluations of commercial, institutional and municipal facilities. The role involves extensive travel (approximately 75% of the workweek) and requires delivering detailed reports that support capital planning and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site Facility Condition Assessments, energy audits, ADA assessments, mechanical equipment evaluations, and space utilization analyses.
• Prepare written reports with findings, photographic documentation, cost estimates, and recommendations for repair or replacement.
• Communicate project status to leadership, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure timely delivery of deliverables.
• Perform physical surveys of building systems, measure quantities, and interview owners, tenants, and service providers.
• Review client‑provided property records, leases, maintenance logs, and other documentation to inform assessments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least three years of relevant experience (or five years without a degree).
• Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, environmental concerns, and industry standards.
• Ability to travel frequently across the U.S., including overnight stays and occasional weekend travel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and client interaction.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using project‑management and assessment software such as Quire, AssetCalc, and other business‑specific applications.
• Ability to operate an electronic tablet for live data collection in the field.
• Knowledge of ASTM standards and client‑specific scope requirements.
