Extended Care Teacher

About the role

The Extended Care Teacher supports the lead preschool teacher in delivering a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. Working within the ISP curriculum, you will assist with classroom instruction, supervise children throughout the day and help promote their social, emotional and cognitive development.

Key responsibilities

• Support classroom instruction by helping implement daily lesson plans and educational games.
• Monitor and engage children during classroom activities, playtime, meals and outdoor periods to ensure safety and positive behavior.
• Assist with behavior management by reinforcing classroom rules and guiding social‑emotional skill development.
• Prepare and organize learning materials, resources and displays to facilitate hands‑on learning.
• Maintain a clean, hazard‑free environment, including sanitising toys and equipment.
• Provide individualized support to children who need extra help or emotional assistance.
• Observe children’s development and report concerns or progress to the lead teacher.
• Support daily routines such as arrivals, departures, toileting, meals and rest time.
• Model respectful, inclusive behaviour to foster a positive classroom culture.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff to ensure consistent teaching practices.

Required profile

Required skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent (required).
• TKT Training Course certification.
• Prior experience working with young children in an educational or care setting (preferred).
