Executive Underwriter / AVP Underwriting Director – Financial Institutions

About the role

Zurich is seeking an experienced Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director to join its Middle Market Technology P&C team in the Midwest. This hybrid role focuses on serving financial institution clients, understanding their unique risks, and delivering end‑to‑end insurance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, partners, and customers across multiple industries.
• Leverage P&C underwriting expertise to assess risk, evaluate exposure, price policies, and manage a profitable book of new and renewal business.
• Collaborate with claims, finance, risk engineering, actuarial, and technical underwriting teams.
• Use negotiation and interpersonal skills to grow relationships with preferred distribution partners in the assigned territory.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant years of underwriting or claims experience (5‑10 years for Executive Underwriter, 7‑14 years for AVP level).
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and appropriate experience is also acceptable.
• Ability to work under time constraints for quotes and thrive in a team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
