Executive Director, Extended Studies

About the role

The Executive Director of Extended Studies reports to the Associate Provost for Academic Planning and provides visionary, entrepreneurial, and operational leadership for a significant $88 million portfolio of credit and non‑credit academic programs serving pre‑college, undergraduate, graduate, and professional learners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visionary, entrepreneurial, and operational leadership for an $88 million portfolio of credit and non‑credit academic programs.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to expand access, drive sustainable growth, and position Extended Studies as an innovation catalyst.
• Cultivate strategic partnerships locally, nationally, and globally to extend the university’s reach.
• Champion entrepreneurial thinking and oversee the implementation of new initiatives that align with institutional priorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• At least twelve years of professional experience, including six years of supervisory or managerial responsibility.
• Demonstrated record of program development, strategic growth, enrollment expansion, and revenue generation.
• Experience within a large public research university and familiarity with University of Maryland systems, policies, and governance.
