Events & Field Marketing Manager
build-ai · San Francisco
Job description
About the role
Build AI is building its events function from the ground up and needs a proactive leader to shape how the company appears at conferences, customer gatherings, recruiting events, and community experiences. You will own the strategy, execution, and measurement of all field‑marketing activities, turning events into a competitive advantage for brand, talent, and customer acquisition.
Key responsibilities
- Design and own Build’s events calendar and strategy, from major AI/robotics conferences to intimate executive dinners.
- Manage sponsorships, activations, and on‑site presence at key industry events such as NeurIPS and CoRL.
- Conceptualize, plan, and execute standalone experiences for customers, prospects, candidates, and the broader AI community.
- Evaluate conference and event ROI based on brand impact, recruiting outcomes, and customer engagement.
- Handle end‑to‑end logistics: venue selection, vendor contracts, budgets, guest lists, invitations, on‑site execution, and post‑event follow‑up.
- Build scalable processes and systems to grow the events function as the company expands.
Required profile
- 2+ years of experience in events, field marketing, or experiential marketing, with a track record of owning events from concept through execution.
- Exceptional organization and detail‑orientation, able to juggle multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- High agency and creativity – you proactively solve problems and craft memorable experiences.
- Comfortable negotiating sponsorships and handling last‑minute issues on the day of an event.
- Strong judgment and the ability to represent Build confidently with customers, researchers, candidates, and partners.
- Willingness to travel regularly for conferences and events.
What we offer
- Competitive salary and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- $500 monthly credit for waiving medical benefits.
- Housing subsidy of $2,000 per month for nearby residents.
- Relocation support for moves to San Francisco or Shenzhen.
- Wellness benefits covering fitness, mental health, and more.
- Daily lunch and dinner on‑site, unlimited compute budget (ROI‑justified), and unlimited Codex and Claude credits.
