Equipment Operator Trainee – Lead Equipment Operator

About the role

Maryland Environmental Service is hiring full‑time heavy equipment operators for its Cox Creek facilities in Maryland. Positions range from Equipment Operator Trainee to Lead Equipment Operator, offering on‑the‑job training and the chance to work on environmental projects across the state.

Key responsibilities

• Operate off‑road dump trucks, dozers, excavators and other heavy equipment.
• Run dewatering pumps and assist with sediment containment and reuse activities.
• Travel to additional sites as needed and perform occasional evening or weekend work.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license with fewer than 5 points.
• Pass a standard physical examination and be able to lift 50 lb.
• Experience requirements vary by classification: no experience for Trainee, 1 year for EO, 3 years for Senior EO, and 5 years for Lead EO.

Required skills

• Operation of off‑road dump trucks.
• Operation of dozers and excavators.
• Use of dewatering pumps and related heavy‑equipment controls.
