Environmental Sustainability Manager

About the role

Saputo is looking for an Environmental Sustainability Manager to oversee the Environmental Management System (EMS) at its Delhi (NY) and Newington (CT) facilities. The role acts as the plant's environmental advisor and specialist, ensuring environmental compliance and progress against energy, water and waste sustainability goals. It is a hands-on position working closely with operations, maintenance, sustainability, compliance, engineering and sanitation teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee implementation of the facility's EMS and develop tactical plans to reduce energy, water and waste
• Carry out the plans directly and guide other key players at the site
• Advocate for the resources needed to build EMS capability through tools and training, and report progress to internal and external stakeholders
• Monitor and measure environmental KPIs to track results and identify improvement opportunities
• Facilitate continual environmental performance improvement, with a near-term focus on sustainability performance

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental management, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing plant, with technical capacity to assess and optimize utility systems (heat and steam, compressed air, refrigeration, CIP systems) and calculate performance improvements and savings
• Direct environmental experience, such as running an energy/water/waste program, project management in manufacturing, KPI analysis, or implementing an EMS
• Knowledge of federal, state and local environmental standards and regulations
• Able to travel regularly between sites, at least once a month (3-4 days)
• Professional certifications such as AEE, CEEM or ASHRAE are a plus

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data modeling/analytics
• Familiarity with PLCs, process instrumentation and process drawings
• Strong writing and presentation skills
• Working knowledge of ISO 14000 and 50000 standards, and EPA Energy Star and DOE Better Plants programs are a plus

What we offer

• Salary range of $90,000 - $105,000 plus bonus
