Environmental Compliance Specialist

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to support agricultural water withdrawal applications, meter installations, and Water Well Standards Act inspections. This role blends field work with office analysis to ensure compliance across the state’s agricultural sector.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field and office duties for agricultural water withdrawal permits and meter installations.
• Use maps and GPS tools to locate wells, surface water pumps, and flow meters.
• Audit permits and drill sites, develop Notices of Violation, and track compliance resolutions.
• Document field work and inspection results accurately and promptly.
• Provide technical assistance and interact with farmers, property owners, extension agents, and water well drillers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, physics, geology, engineering, or a closely related field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GPS and mapping tools for site identification.
