Environmental Compliance Specialist – Augusta Office

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to work from its Augusta office. Under supervision, you will evaluate programs for compliance with environmental laws, rules, and regulations and recommend monitoring and corrective actions.

Key responsibilities

• Assess environmental programs for compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Recommend monitoring, corrective, and enforcement actions as needed.
• Conduct inspections related to safe drinking water, wastewater, and construction stormwater.
• Interpret and apply environmental statutes and regulations.
• Interact with the public and provide clear technical communication.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Geology, Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Relevant professional experience in environmental protection (ranging from 0 to 3 years depending on the specialist level).
• Experience with web‑based applications for data entry and reporting.
• Strong communication skills for technical matters and public interaction.
