Entry-Level & Certified Police Officer – Full-Time

About the role

The Hanover Police Department is hiring both entry‑level (non‑certified) and fully certified police officers to serve a vibrant college‑town community. Officers will protect residents, enforce laws, and engage with the public while upholding the department’s values of accountability, inclusion, and community‑oriented policing.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to deter and respond to criminal activity.
• Enforce local, state, and federal laws and issue citations as needed.
• Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and prepare reports.
• Engage with community members, schools, and local organizations to build trust.
• Participate in training programs, including the NH Police Academy and state certification processes.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; higher education yields salary incentives.
• Ability to meet physical fitness standards (Cooper Standards – 50th percentile).
• Successful completion of the NH Police Academy for entry‑level candidates.
• For certified officers: valid New Hampshire police certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Strong ethical standards, good judgment, and a commitment to public service.
