Engineering Technician II

About the role

The Engineering Technician II provides technical support for design, construction, and operation of a large potable water utility. The role involves hands‑on work with water treatment and transmission equipment, as well as preparation of multi‑discipline engineering drawings.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical engineering analyses, calculations, and hydraulic modeling for water distribution and transmission systems.
• Prepare and modify engineering drawings using AutoCAD and maintain GIS and facilities databases.
• Operate field test equipment, collect accurate data, and support maintenance shop personnel on pumps, valves, motors, actuators, MCCs, and protection relays.
• Communicate complex technical information to non‑technical staff and collaborate on critical projects under tight deadlines.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED plus college‑level coursework in engineering, drafting, or related fields.
• Four years of progressively responsible sub‑professional engineering or field survey experience.
• Knowledge of engineering design, fluid flow theory, hydraulic analysis, and water utility operations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents.
