Engineering Intern - Spring 2027

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a Canadian-owned manufacturer of roofing and building materials, offers an Engineering Intern position for the spring of 2027. The intern works under the guidance of experienced engineers and contributes to engineering projects and tasks, gaining hands-on experience in the field.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and maintain IKO safety goals, lead safety and housekeeping efforts and corrective actions, aiming for zero incidents
• Assist in designing and developing products, systems or components, which may include drafting, 3D modeling or prototyping
• Conduct research, data analysis and simulations to support engineering projects and decisions
• Take part in testing and quality control to ensure products meet specifications and industry standards
• Maintain accurate records of engineering activities, including design documentation, test results and project reports
• Provide technical support to teammates and departments, and collaborate with designers, production staff and project managers
• Seek mentorship from experienced engineers and attend training sessions or seminars

Required profile

• Enrolled in an accredited engineering program (mechanical, electrical, chemical or industrial)
• Previous engineering coursework, projects or internships are beneficial
• Ability to attend every day, on time, as scheduled, and to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, bending and reaching, and operating office equipment

• Adaptability, initiative and a proactive attitude
