Engineering Designer II

About the role

Alta Planning + Design is seeking an Engineering Designer II to join its Denver office. The position focuses on designing sustainable transportation projects that improve community livability across Colorado and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with planners, landscape architects, and engineers on multimodal projects such as bikeway design, shared‑use paths, streetscapes, and complete streets.
• Develop geometric layouts, grading plans, storm‑drainage solutions, green‑infrastructure details, and traffic‑control plans for bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
• Conduct site visits to assess conditions and monitor construction, ensuring designs are implemented as specified.
• Support project delivery from system‑level concepts down to detailed intersection designs.

Required profile

• Passion for active, multimodal, and sustainable transportation.
• Ability to work on projects that have a positive impact on communities.
• Experience delivering design work in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Required skills

• Geometric layout and grading design.
• Storm‑drainage and green‑infrastructure planning.
• Signing, striping, and traffic‑control plan development for multimodal projects.
