About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Fishmonger's Assistant to manage the reception, preparation, and sale of fresh fish, seafood, and crustaceans. You will ensure the display is attractive, maintain hygiene standards, and provide excellent customer service.
Key responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming seafood deliveries.
- Prepare and transform fish, crustaceans, and shellfish (e.g., cleaning, filleting, plating).
- Set up and refresh the sales counter with ice, decorations, and product arrangement.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
- Ensure correct pricing and labeling of all products.
- Advise customers, promote products, and foster loyalty.
Required profile
- Proven experience in a similar fishmongery or seafood retail role.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and cold‑chain hygiene regulations.
- Ability to work accurately, autonomously, and as part of a team.
Required skills
- Seafood preparation techniques (filleting, cleaning, plating).
- Food safety and hygiene standards compliance.
- Use of cutting and processing tools for fish and shellfish.
- Basic sales and customer‑service techniques.
