Electrical/Mechanical Field Technician – Downhole Installations

About the role

Salamander is looking for an experienced Electrical/Mechanical Field Technician to support downhole cable deployments, mechanical installations, and wellsite execution activities. The role involves frequent travel to domestic and international job sites, with up to 60% travel depending on project demands.

Key responsibilities

• Install mineral insulated cables, thermocouple systems, and fiber optics in well environments.
• Deploy and secure cables using tubing clamps or coil tubing operations.
• Monitor and protect cable integrity during deployment and test systems on‑site.
• Interface with workover crews and customer representatives at the location.
• Support medium‑voltage splice and termination activities as required.

Required profile

• 3–7 years of oilfield mechanical field experience (onshore or offshore).
• Experience with coil tubing, drilling, or well intervention operations.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (30–60%).
• Technical or engineering degree preferred; strong field background valued.

Required skills

• Installation of mineral insulated cables, thermocouple systems, fiber optics.
• Use of tubing clamps, coil tubing operations.
• Medium‑voltage splice and termination.
• Familiarity with ESP cables, instrumentation cables, and wellsite hardware.
