Electrical Inspector – Data Centers

About the role

The Electrical Inspector – Data Centers conducts detailed inspections of electrical infrastructure within mission‑critical facilities across Texas, ensuring compliance with NEC, IEEE standards, local regulations and client design criteria.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of power distribution panels, switchgear, transformers, UPS, battery rooms, generators, grounding systems, cabling pathways and fire‑alarm/suppression interfaces.
• Interpret and apply NEC, IEEE 3000, NFPA 70 and local codes, explaining requirements to contractors and owners.
• Review construction drawings, single‑line diagrams and specifications for code compliance before field work.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, non‑compliance notices and corrective‑action recommendations with photographic documentation.
• Support project‑level planning, schedule coordination and budget tracking for inspection activities.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred) or high school diploma/GED with at least 2 years relevant experience.
• Minimum 2 years journey‑level experience in municipal/county electrical inspection, industrial/commercial construction, or electrical contracting.
• Journeyman Electrical or ICC Electrical Certification (mandatory) and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE 3000, NFPA 70 and local electrical codes.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.
• Digital imaging skills for photo capture and editing.
• Technical writing for clear, concise inspection reports.
• Strong verbal communication to convey technical information to non‑technical audiences.
