About the role
Join Johnson & Johnson's Surgery team in Santa Clara to work on cutting‑edge medical robotics. As an Electrical Engineering Intern you will design, prototype, test and integrate multi‑layer PCBs for surgical robotic platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and prototype PCBs for robotic elements, subsystems and testing fixtures.
- Deliver technical documentation such as design reviews, engineering studies and test results.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to create reliable designs for robotic tasks.
- Test, debug and perform root‑cause analysis during bench testing and system integration.
- Participate in clinical assessments using inanimate anatomical models.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical, Robotics, Mechatronics or related field.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Available full‑time for the internship term (June 1 – August 20 2027 or June 21 – September 10 2027).
- Permanent U.S. work authorization without future sponsorship.
Required skills
- Basic experience with oscilloscopes, DC power supplies and multimeters.
- Fundamental knowledge of circuit design theory and electrical engineering principles.
- Proficiency in PCB design software such as Altium, Eagle or KiCad.
- Basic scripting ability in Python or Matlab (nice‑to‑have).
