Electrical Engineer – Glass Fiber Operations

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a manufacturer of roofing and building materials based in Chester, Lancaster, is looking for an Electrical Engineer for its Glass Fiber Operations. The engineer designs and develops electrical systems and controls that support manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and maintain IKO safety goals, lead safety and housekeeping efforts and corrective actions, aiming for zero incidents.
• Design electrical systems including power distribution, control panels, wiring and instrumentation.
• Design, develop and fine-tune PID control algorithms for complex electrical systems.
• Create electrical schematics, diagrams and layouts using CAD software.
• Specify components, materials and equipment, and integrate electrical systems with manufacturing equipment.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and technicians, and ensure equipment meets safety and regulatory standards.
• Develop automation solutions such as PLCs and SCADA systems, and program and troubleshoot control systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least six years of experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills, working well in teams.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and data-driven problem solving, and ability to manage budgetary control.
• Knowledge of industry standards, electrical codes, regulations and safety protocols.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software and electrical design software.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and SCADA systems.
