Electrical / Controls Designer

About the role

Amentum's Advanced Solutions Group, which designs, builds and operates complex R&D facilities for nuclear, automotive, motorsports, defense and aerospace clients, is seeking an Electrical / Controls Designer. The designer works in a multidisciplinary project team to create custom design solutions for projects such as wind tunnel equipment, rocket and jet engine test stands, automotive test cells and other test facilities and systems. Candidates may be based at the Tullahoma, TN or Farmington Hills, MI office.

Key responsibilities

• Design control cabinets and hardware
• Develop wiring diagrams
• Create 3D models of conduit and instruments
• Support other electrical and controls-related designs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver custom solutions for customers

Required profile

• US citizenship is required to comply with government customer requirements and regulations
• Technical school training certification or one year of college with coursework relevant to drafting or engineering principles, plus at least two years of relevant experience; additional education or experience may substitute for the required experience
• Demonstrated experience using 2D and 3D CAD software (Autodesk Electrical preferred)
• Knowledge of electrical and hardware components, including I/O modules, terminal blocks, control cabinets and wiring diagrams
