Electrical Connector Engineer

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Electrical Connector Engineer to support the Prototyping Integration Facility (PIF) of the C5ISR center at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. The project integrates C5ISR operational prototypes onto military air, ground and sea weapon systems and platforms, and provides prototyping, integration and testing support based on emerging warfighter needs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and fabricate prototype and limited manufacturing programs focused on C5ISR programs.
• Contribute technically to concepts and technical data packages and oversee fabrication of hardware systems.
• Perform preliminary design, testing, measurements, system analysis and simulation.
• Assist CAD designers in developing the electrical design of products.
• Work with other engineers to meet quality, safety and logistics requirements.
• Help prepare test plans, assess design and test results, and provide cost estimates and track expenditures.
• Instruct electronics technicians and junior engineers when required, and work independently with limited supervision.

Required profile

• BS in Electrical Engineering or a related scientific/technical discipline and three years of related experience.
• Technical background in fabrication of electrical connectors, especially MIL STD type data and power connectors used in wiring harness assemblies.
• Experience overseeing manufacture of components made with injection molding, sheet metal and machining systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and schematics.
• US citizenship required to obtain a Secret Clearance; active Secret Clearance preferred.

Preferred qualifications

• Five years of experience as an engineer or equipment designer.
• Combination of electrical and mechanical experience.
• Hardware design, assembly and test experience.
• Experience designing, developing or producing military equipment, preferably C5ISR systems.
• Robotics and/or counter-UAS experience.
