EHS Engineer – Springfield, MO

About the role

3M is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer to join the Safety & Industrial Business plant in Springfield, MO. The role supports the plant’s EHS compliance, data‑driven initiatives, and cross‑functional projects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct internal and external environmental and safety audits.
• Prepare and submit environmental reports and regulatory documentation.
• Analyze plant‑specific EHS data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Respond to agency requests and support permitting activities.
• Provide environmental expertise to product development teams and lead EHS improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, fire codes).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher, completed before start date.
• Minimum five years of EHS experience in private, public, government, or military settings; seven or more years preferred in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience implementing comprehensive EHS management systems and conducting hazard and risk assessments.
• Familiarity with computer‑based EHS reporting tools and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical, project planning, and communication skills.
• CSP or CIH certification, or willingness to obtain one.
