Education Program Specialist – Special Education Support

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Education Program Specialist to support local school districts and Georgia Department of Education staff in delivering special education programs. The role serves as a statewide resource for the Georgia Online IEP (GO‑IEP) and Georgia Online 504 (GO‑504) systems, helping districts meet state and federal requirements and improve outcomes for students with disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support, guidance, training, and technical assistance to local school districts and GaDOE staff on special education program implementation.
• Serve as a statewide resource for effective use of GO‑IEP and GO‑504, ensuring compliance with IDEA and state policies.
• Assist with Part B data reporting, monitoring, system enhancements, and data analysis.
• Develop guidance documents, reports, presentations, and training materials.
• Respond to customer inquiries via consultations, trainings, phone calls, emails, and help tickets.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate data collection and program implementation.

Required profile

• Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
• Highly effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and self‑motivation.
• Proven ability to collaborate with school personnel, staff, students, and support agencies.
• Ability to manage multiple overlapping tasks.
