About the role
The Richmond Fed’s Research Department is seeking a Summer 2027 intern to research and write about economic issues. You will contribute to the department’s publications, including the Econ Focus magazine and the Regional Matters blog, while supporting analysts with data and analysis tasks. The internship provides advanced project work, leadership training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to develop your economics, research, and communication skills.
Key responsibilities
- Research and write a feature‑length article for the quarterly Econ Focus magazine.
- Support other publications with research, writing, and copyediting as needed.
- Assist in updating economic reports, including data organization, analysis, and creating visualizations.
- Develop data visualizations to illustrate economic findings.
Required profile
- Minimum 3.5 GPA in economics coursework and overall.
- Demonstrated writing or editing experience (e.g., student newspaper, journal).
- Basic knowledge of research techniques and passion for data exploration.
- Familiarity with a statistical program such as Stata, SAS, or R.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a background check.
