Early Head Start Teacher (Full-Time)

About the role

The Early Head Start Teacher works in a classroom serving infants and toddlers, creating and delivering educational activities that support their social‑emotional, physical and cognitive growth. Working alongside a co‑teacher, the role ensures a safe, nurturing environment and strong family partnerships while complying with all federal, state and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans that promote readiness for preschool.
• Guide daily classroom activities, field trips and learning experiences, ensuring a developmentally appropriate setting.
• Set up and maintain equipment and materials, guaranteeing safety and suitability.
• Practice responsive caregiving, integrating routines into flexible learning schedules.
• Conduct parent conferences and home visits (minimum two each per year) to discuss child progress and support family engagement.
• Maintain accurate paper and electronic records, including observations, assessments and screenings.
• Uphold confidentiality and adhere to Save the Children’s values of accountability, ambition, collaboration, creativity and integrity.

Required profile

• Experience working with infants and toddlers in an Early Head Start or comparable early‑childhood program.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a co‑teacher and support staff.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations governing early childhood education.
• Strong communication skills for building partnerships with families.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive and high‑quality learning environment.
