Director, Product Development & Production – Accessories

About the role

The Director of Product Development & Production for Accessories will lead all phases of product creation and manufacturing for handbags and small leather goods. Reporting to the Chief Officer of Product Development and Production, you will ensure that each collection meets design, cost, quality and timeline objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain clear development and production calendars aligned with business needs.
• Collaborate with design, development and merchandising teams to deliver seasonal collections that satisfy aesthetic, functional and cost targets.
• Lead the Accessories PD & Production team, fostering growth and cross‑functional efficiency.
• Manage communication with internal partners and external manufacturers, suppliers and vendors.
• Oversee prototype, SMS, BOM and pre‑production meetings to drive decisions.
• Analyze factory cost sheets, negotiate pricing and ensure financial margin targets are met.
• Travel internationally to support prototype development and production flow.
• Identify sourcing gaps, build new vendor relationships and drive cost‑reduction initiatives.

Required profile

• 9+ years of experience in product development and production, preferably within accessories, handbags or small leather goods.
• Proven track record of leading cross‑functional teams and managing complex supply chains.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills with a focus on profitability.
• Ability to travel internationally as needed.
