Director of User Experience

About the role

Second Nature is looking for a senior design leader to shape the experience of its Resident Experience Platform. Reporting to the VP of Product, you will manage a team of 4‑6 designers across multiple product domains, operating in a strategic "Product Trio" model and partnering with Customer Success, Implementation, and Data leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the UX vision and North Star for the platform, aligning with company and product strategy.
• Elevate design culture through critique, workshops, and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Grow and develop the design team: hiring, career planning, compensation, and feedback.
• Lead strategic design projects end‑to‑end, delivering high‑level framing, experience architecture, and design sprints.
• Maintain and evolve the design system, including tokens, patterns, accessibility standards, and governance.
• Establish a research practice that drives evidence‑based decisions and informs product direction.
• Shape the AI‑UX/content operating model, defining tooling, risk tiering, and guardrails.

Required profile

• 8+ years in digital product UX with at least 3 years managing designers directly.
• Hands‑on design capability with a recent personal portfolio.
• Proven track record of growing people and leveling up team members.
• Deep experience with design systems at the architecture level, managing token and pattern composition.
• Strong measurement mindset: define metrics, instrument them, and iterate based on results.
• Executive communication skills to translate UX strategy and trade‑offs into business outcomes.
• Leadership of research practice, establishing cadence with residents and property managers.
• Clear stance on AI in design and hands‑on experience with AI tooling.
