Director of Fiscal Operations

About the role

The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, part of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Director of Fiscal Operations to serve as a key advisor to the CFO and oversee the Center’s financial management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate all fiscal year‑end activities.
• Develop and maintain fiscal policies and standard operating procedures; review and approve financial transactions as Central Company Accountant.
• Ensure compliance with governmental accounting regulations and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate financial and compliance audits and act as primary liaison.
• Develop accounting procedures for new economic ventures and public‑private partnerships.
• Oversee procurement, internal reporting, travel, wage and time submission, and post‑award administration for sponsored agreements.
• Manage ERP system security access for Center employees.
• Lead and supervise a team of nine fiscal‑operations staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in fiscal operations, accounting, or financial management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead and manage professional staff.
• Ability to build trust with research scientists, administrators, and staff.
• Strong credibility, professionalism, and influence.
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs.
