Director of Finance and Operations

About the role

The Director of Finance and Operations leads UnCommon Law’s financial and operational infrastructure, ensuring long‑term sustainability while supporting the organization’s mission to provide trauma‑informed legal advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain long‑range financial scenarios, budgeting, and sustainability analyses.
• Oversee day‑to‑day nonprofit financial management, including coding accuracy, restricted‑fund tracking, and financial reporting.
• Partner with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, and team leaders to inform strategic decisions with financial insights.
• Manage key operational functions such as facilities management and organizational systems.
• Supervise the Finance & Operations team and coordinate with external accountants.

Required profile

• Proven experience in nonprofit financial leadership and operations management.
• Strong analytical ability to assess financial risks, opportunities, and long‑term sustainability.
• Hands‑on approach with attention to detail in coding, reporting, and compliance.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work closely with senior leadership and external partners.
