Director of Civic Engagement

About the role

The Jewish Federation of St. Louis is seeking a strategic, relationship‑oriented professional to lead civic engagement across the region. The Director will expand the Federation’s capacity to strengthen civic relationships, address antisemitism, and advance public‑affairs priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute tailored engagement strategies for elected officials, educators, business leaders, law‑enforcement, interfaith groups, nonprofits, and media.
• Coordinate regular touchpoints between Federation leaders and priority stakeholders, identifying partnership opportunities and expanding the network of community allies.
• Monitor antisemitism and public‑policy trends, translating them into actionable recommendations and supporting advocacy at local, state, and federal levels.
• Recruit, train, and support lay leaders who act as ambassadors with strategic community partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in community relations, public affairs, government relations, nonprofit leadership, or related fields.
• Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with diverse leaders and organizations.
• Strong project and program management skills, moving from strategy to implementation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, research, and analytical abilities.
• Experience with databases, CRM systems, and project‑management platforms.
