Director, Global Media Relations

About the role

The Director, Global Media Relations leads the media strategy and supports global media activities aligned with Elsevier’s priorities, including commercial launches, campaigns, thought‑leadership initiatives, executive communications and reactive media inquiries.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with segment teams on messaging, bylined articles, pitches and other media content.
• Work with agencies and business partners in key markets to deliver media goals and provide counsel to business segments.
• Handle media inquiries, strategic planning, tracking and measurement for global media activities.
• Maintain an in‑depth understanding of technology, regulation and industry best practices through ongoing education and conference attendance.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in media relations or corporate communications within a global, matrixed organization or agency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Established relationships and credibility with journalists covering science, healthcare, technology or business.
• Proven experience counseling senior executives on media strategy, positioning and crisis response.
