About the role
The Director, Controller – Core Payments leads the controllership function for Mastercard’s Core Payments business unit, focusing on blockchain and digital payments. Reporting to the VP, Controller – Core Payments, the role ensures the integrity of financial statements while navigating evolving US GAAP, SEC, and regulatory expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with Core Payments finance partners on accounting matters, including revenue and expense recognition for digital assets.
- Assess accounting implications of operating models such as custodial vs. non‑custodial and agency vs. principal arrangements.
- Liaise with regional controllers to ensure consistency across global initiatives.
- Interface with external auditors on the application of accounting principles to digital payments transactions.
- Manage compliance activities (Mastercard policies, SOX, internal audit, ORM) and communicate exposures to leadership.
- Collaborate with internal reporting teams to align disclosures with accounting and regulatory requirements.
Required profile
- Strong leadership ability to engage and transform finance teams.
- Deep accounting expertise with experience in US GAAP and ASC 606.
- Strategic thinking and sound judgment in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.
- Proven audit readiness and governance experience.
