About the role

Lumafield is seeking a Director of Business Development and Government Relations to lead the creation and growth of its government and defense vertical. Based in Washington, D.C., this hybrid role combines enterprise sales, business development, and government affairs to connect cutting‑edge industrial CT scanning and AI‑driven inspection technology with U.S. defense and federal procurement programs.

Key responsibilities

  • Own end‑to‑end government and defense relationships, including executive‑branch policymakers, DoD acquisition offices, military services, defense prime partners, and Congress.
  • Build and manage a qualified pipeline of opportunities, guiding each from initial engagement through procurement, contract signing, and system deployment.
  • Navigate Department of Defense procurement processes and translate relationships into installations of Lumafield systems across military sites, defense primes, and federal agencies.
  • Collaborate with government‑affairs partners to develop and sustain congressional relationships.
  • Travel regularly to Lumafield offices in Boston and San Francisco and to customer sites nationwide.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or government affairs within the defense or federal sector.
  • Demonstrated success securing contracts with DoD or other federal agencies.
  • Strong network of contacts among policymakers, defense primes, and congressional staff.
  • Ability to operate autonomously and report directly to the CEO.
