Director, AI Strategy & Transformation

About the role

We are seeking to hire a Director of AI Strategy & Transformation to lead ButterflyMX’s evolution into an AI‑enabled organization. The role defines, executes, and continuously refines the AI strategy to deliver meaningful business value while overseeing budgeting, governance, and company‑wide adoption.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the AI transformation strategy, aligning it with business goals and long‑term vision.
• Develop and maintain a roadmap that balances quick wins with strategic investments.
• Partner with executive leadership to translate priorities into AI‑enabled opportunities.
• Manage headcount planning, hiring strategy, and budgeting for AI teams, tools, vendors, and experimentation.
• Establish processes for AI project intake, prioritization, resource allocation, and KPI‑driven decision making.
• Act as a visible AI champion, translating complex concepts for non‑technical audiences and fostering excitement across the organization.
• Identify, evaluate, and adopt emerging AI tools and platforms while ensuring security, compliance, and responsible use.

Required profile

• Proven track record leading cross‑functional initiatives and driving organizational change.
• Deep understanding of current AI technologies, capabilities, and limitations.
• Experience managing budgets and influencing executive stakeholders.
• Ability to establish governance frameworks and policies for AI adoption.
• Strong communication skills to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
• Curiosity and hands‑on mindset with emerging technologies; background in strategy, operations, technology leadership, or consulting is a plus.

• Base salary $200,000‑$300,000 per year, with potential bonuses, equity and other compensation.
