Director, Accounting

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Director of Accounting to join the North America Finance team. Reporting to the NA Regional Controller, this senior position will ensure the integrity of US GAAP financials and support a range of accounting and internal‑control initiatives across the United States and Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the monthly close process with the Global Business Service Center (GBSC) and review all deliverables.
• Lead quarterly US GAAP reporting, disclosures, and SEC filing requirements.
• Provide accounting advice on revenue, billing, and deal structures, and oversee the revenue waiver and claims process.
• Support revenue assurance initiatives and ensure accurate revenue forecasting.
• Deliver technical accounting guidance on revenue and expense recognition.
• Maintain SOX controls, internal‑control monitoring, and risk‑management activities.
• Prepare financial reports, conduct analyses, and present recommendations to senior management.
• Manage and develop a team of two direct reports, including goal setting and performance appraisals.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in US GAAP accounting and SEC reporting.
• Proven leadership experience managing a small accounting team.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex revenue data.
• Experience collaborating with global service centers and cross‑functional business partners.
• Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal‑control frameworks.
