About the role
Catholic Charities of Long Island seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals to provide dignified, person‑centered care to developmentally disabled residents in a group home setting. This full‑time position involves supporting residents in daily activities, skill development, and community outings.
Key responsibilities
- Transport and safeguard residents on outings.
- Coach residents in skills development and administer medications.
- Provide personal care and other person‑centered services as needed.
- Perform household maintenance tasks, including meal preparation.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid NYS driver’s license.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, crouching, and two‑person lifts up to 250 lb.
- Capability to maintain personal safety and respond calmly to physical or emotional outbursts.
